Stoking the stove for positive qi and wealth

FROM the feng shui perspective, the kitchen is the center of the family unit in the home. How a kitchen is designed, and especially where the stove is placed in the kitchen will produce dramatic effects and influences on the occupants and family members living in the house.

Where you place your kitchen furnishing also determines how well (or how poorly) the life energy, qi, will flow and how it can be channeled through your kitchen and eventually to the rest of your home.

When applying feng shui principles to the design of the kitchen, the designer needs to understand that food is wealth which, in turn, will feed the prosperity cycle.

That is why in the kitchen, the greatest emphasis is on the placement of the stove. The inter-relationships are perfectly logical. Good, nutritional food yields good health, good humour and a happier person. A well-fed, well-nourished person is more effective in his career, his relationships, and his interactions with the environment.

And the cycle doesn’t end there. A more effective person is more likely to be prosperous and successful.

Conversely, ‘poor’ food produced in a kitchen with an unlucky design yields poor performance and poor health, which lead to a depressed ability to earn a good income and the person to experience disappointment and failure.

So, in this way, a poorly-designed kitchen continues the cycle of impoverishment and, by extension, continued ‘poor’ nourishment.

Here are some feng shui tips to bring about positive qi, happiness, prosperity and luck to your home and family through a good kitchen design.

» Avoid any overhead beam over the stove

The stove should be placed in an open space in the kitchen with no beam running above it. (See diagram A.)

Also, it is not advisable to have any ‘suppressing objects’ above the stove as well, such as a staircase (See diagram B).

If the stove is placed in such a position, then the family members may suffer hardship in terms of career and income.

» Avoid placing near the drainage area

There should not be a drainage system running in front or at the back of the stove (See diagram C) because this would affect the health of the occupants in the house in the long run.

The drainage system would “drain” away the qi from the house and bring about serious illnesses to the members of the family.

» Avoid placing the stove diagonal

A stove should not be place diagonally in the corner of the kitchen (Diagram D) because it will disrupt the harmony in the house. This is because such diagonal placement would bring about disputes and quarrels between husband and wife.

    Hello Master Soon,

Hoping you find very well, I would like to ask you, what happens with people who likes to desing their kitchen in an open area… including kitchen, dinner room and living room??

    Thank´s for your attention,

    Jazmin Gonzalez

  • Jazmin Gonzalez:

    Welcome to Oriental Wisdom:

If the case as you mentioned, then, many family problems are awaiting the occupants.

    For Example;
If the the stove is exposed and could be seen from the main door, it means the private part of the female owner is exposed to the public. There would lead to rape or extra-marital status; kill if the combination of bedroom also exposed.

I am a practitioner, tell me a actual design and I would help to analysis what wrong with the feng shui layout.

It is not a joke as long as feng shui is concerned.

    thanks
    Master soon

    Hi Master Soon,
Instead of facing the main door, my stove faces the front windows, does it has the same effect as face the main door?
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Frogie

  • Hi Fogie:

    Door symbolises FULL EXPOSURE.
    Window symbolizes HALF EXPOSURE.

    Front part meant “direct confrontation”.
    Rear part meant “indirect confrontation”.

    Stove symbolizes the female owner.

Link the 2 variables and the truth would reveal to you.

    Thanks

Hi Master Soon. I place my stove on
a concrete table at the rear balcony
of my flat. So I do most of my cooking
outside. Any problems ? Thanks for your
    advice.

  • Hi Telecasting:

    Welcome to Oriental Wisdom.
I try to understand your condition the way you described.
Balcony, basically is the place where is windy, unless you close the balcony all the time.
If, it is windy, then, it is not good for the flame of the stove and in term of feng shui, it would translate as fluctuate living hood with uncertainty.
If the stove is exposed, then, the same principle applied as I mentioned before.

    Thanks
    Master Soon

    Hi,
We have an open kitchen which cannot be seen from the main door. however there is an open beam on top of the stove. This is an apartmenet rented so I cannot change the place of the stove any cures? And also I have the same in bedroom. There is a beam on top of the bed and since it is a sloping ceiling and I have placed the head of the bed to the highest part of the ceiling I cannot change the place of the bed any cures?

  • Rukiye:

    Welcome to Oriental Wisdom.

For accurate reading, I need the photo as below.
    a) Beam on top of the stove
    b) Overall view of your kitchen
    c) Beam on top of the bed
    d) Overall View of Your Bedroom

    You may send to justsoon@orientalwisdom.com.my

My kitchen is partially located at the center zone of the house. The center zone of my kitchen consists of some kitchen cabinets and stove. The sink and fridge is located outside the center zone. The center point of the center zone is an empty area. Towards the southeast of the center zone is the cabinet and stove.
I have fulfilled the basic fengshui of the placement of sink and stove, just that the location of the kitchen is hard to change.

Is the location of the stove ok? If not, how to mitigate this situation?

  • Hi Xeyone:
    Welcome to Oriental Wisdom.

You have described your feng shui defects, And, you also have your way to solve it.
    You are asking for confirmation.
However, without your actual floor plan, it is very unprofessional to confirm your feng shui situation.

    Thanks

    Master,

My stove is in the NW (the placement was there when I purchased from the previous owner with hood and hob attached).

It would be too troublesome to move the stove.

NW stands for (”chien”)..does it affect the head of the household and what is the remedy? Fire at heaven’s gate?

    Thanks.

    Kev
