Right Divination. Pie or Grid chart?

Which one to use for professional feng shui audit? Pie Chart or Grid Chart?

Professional feng shui audit requires you to abide by the following steps strictly:-

  1. Determine Facing & Sitting of the property
  2. Determine the centre point of the property
  3. Determine the direction degree reading
  4. Determine whether to use the grid chart or pie chart to plot the house plan

Today we are going to discuss on the use of each chart. Every feng shui student is taught to be aware that there are 2 types of feng shui charts, namely, pie chart and grid chart. Pie chart divides a house into 8 pie sectors equally whereby grid chart segregates a house into 9 cubicles. Some of the feng shui masters will suggest using grid chart when applying Flying Star System and using pie chart when applying Eight Mansion System. Some of them even propose using both charts depending on situation and circumstances.

If you ask me which chart I would use, my answer is pie chart which is applicable in any situation. This is simply because there are many blind spots when you apply grid chart. There are a lot of academic and scientific values from pie chart application. Why? The reasons are as follow:-

  1. In my many years of experience, pie chart method is much more accurate in terms of events prediction and feng shui diagnosis, as pie chart gives equal space distribution.
  2. It is more architecturally and mathematically correct by applying pie chart in any house shapes. Grid chart is totally handicapped when you are faced with irregular house shape.
  3. Pie chart enables you to identify centre point of a property accurately and precisely whereas grid chart is not able to pinpoint the “centre point”.
  4. Pie chart helps to superimpose Bagua (8 trigrams) immediately and perfectly.
  5. Pie chart assures equal segmentation of the 24 sectors (24 mountains) accurately onto the house plan. This is hard to achieve through grid chart application.
  6. Pie chart provides better judgment to determine “missing corner” or “protrude sector”.
  7. Pie chart is compatible to all the formulas in Chinese compass which is also pie chart oriented. Grid chart is totally out and against Chinese compass orientation.

If you are able to think logically and rationally on the dimension of both charts, the truth will reveal automatically. My advice to you is to determine the facing and sitting of the property unit first. Thereafter, go to the center point of the house and take the compass reading. Plot the house plan into 8 sectors according to pie chart method.

By using pie chart, you will be able to gauge each mountain or each cardinal point. Then, use your wisdom to choose which is the most suitable formula to apply. If you still insist on grid chart application, you are ethically going against authentic feng shui formulas which is clearly pie chart oriented which has been recorded in the Chinese compass since hundreds of years ago. A true feng shui master, who has good knowledge in water dragon feng shui, Form School feng shui and external feng shui and who is also an expert in “chasing the mountainous dragon feng shui” would definitely apply pie chart.

Imagine that you are lost in a jungle; it is more rational, logical and safer to justify your direction based on pie chart method. Grid method will not be able to save your life during this critical condition. The cubicle in the grid chart does not gives you pointers on the correct direction to save your life. Always use your WISDOM to justify.

    Hi Master Soon,

When a house is built, chi distributes across the walls where Taiji is formed. Do you think distributing the flying star’s ’stars’ according to the room’s layout makes sense? Did chi distributes according to grid line?

    Best regards,
    Samual

  • Hi Samual,

Please accept a warm welcome to my blog. Thank you for your question above.

My answer to your question is NO. The Qi does not distribute passively according to the grid chart.

An experienced feng shui master does not use grid chart to determine Qi distribution. Why? Because Grid Chart does not reflect the dynamic and pragmatic realm of Qi ’s nature and characteristics. If you are well trained in Land Form feng shui and Tomb feng shui, you would know that the nature of Qi flow is not linear or moves in rigidity pattern. If Qi flows in rigidity pattern, then, why not the compass been created in square shape. If you observe the nature often, you would know that Qi is not controlled by the room’s layout.

My practical field works proved that Pie Chart should be used. The observations also confirmed me so. The feedback from my field works also confirmed that Pie Chart is the effective method. Many of my student’s feedbacks revealed to me the same story.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    Master Soon

    Hi Master Soon,

You mentioned that first we have to determine the facing and sitting. Can you talk more on how to find the facing and sitting of a apartment, like Housing Development Board type of flats. Thanks.

  • Hi 1638Walter:

    Welcome to Oriental Wisdom.

First of all, let me make myself clear that most of my statement is meant for practicality and effectiveness. Therefore, most of my ideas may not be the same as what stated in books available in the bookstores.

Let us get back to your question. The determination of facing & sitting IS NOT based on the main door. On the contrary, you as a practitioner should determine the best location for the main door. The original architectural design may or may NOT in line with feng shui principles. So, you need to justify the main door location first.
Feng Shui is about Law of the Earth. It is NOT law of main door. So, the main door is NOT the determinant of the said property’s feng shui.

So, how to determine the the facing & sitting ? Go back to the fundamental principles, law of Yin Yang applies.

The yang component is the facing and Yin component is the sitting. In Malaysia and Singapore, 90% facing of the flats are at the balcony (wide windows).

    Thanks

    Hi Master soon,

    Appreciate you reply.

Having Qi distributed according to a pie chart, is Flying Star’s fly according to the imaginary Bagua line exactly in practical? Does it mean that applying small Taiji in any room (if Chi does not distribute across the wall) of the house will not make sense.

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Samual

  • Hi Samual,

In the first place, the validity and effectiveness of Flying Stars system is questionable. It does not mean that by applying pie chart, then, the accuracy is assured. It is not.
Metaphysics involve many visible and invisible aspects. Sometimes, formula does not help at all.

Small Taiji does exist in the reality.

    Thanks,
    Master Soon

Good day Master Soon. My new house facade face North sit South. Main door is on the left. Compass Reading is 15 degrees (N3). House is rectangular shape. If I apply grid chart, my main door is located at North West sector (inauspicious). However, if I use pie chart, the main door is located at North sector(auspicious). Which chart is more accurate? If, it is the inauspicious, how do I remedy it. Thank you in advance.

    Hi Master Soon
I plotted my house using the pie chart but subsequently found that in my master bedroom there are 2 directions. say 70% in the East and 30% in the SE sector. So which direction should I use to determine the flying start chart. Also is there a need to activate or sub press a good or bad star in the service balcony or kitchen? Looking forward to your comments Thanks

  • Bernard Chan:

    Welcome to Oriental Wisdom :

    1) Qi is penetrating.
    2) Flying Stars is fake feng shui formulas. It is a marketing driven feng shui for commercial objective.
    3) No more comment if you still stick to FAKE feng shui.

    Thanks
    Master Soon
